BAGGED

[Got your own collection?]

Sing hey! for the bag that I saved yesterday.
I folded it flat and I put it away.
Now I need it to pack up my new knitting rig:
But - that's very odd, for it seems much too big.
Never mind - I can use it in some other way -
What of those pillows I'm putting away?
I'll store them, all wrapped, on the shelf in the hall.
Oh no! Look at that! My fine bag is too small.
It is handsome though gaudy, with handles and gussett:
I folded it neatly - a pity to muss it.
Too big for the knitting, too small for the bedding -
I'll pack up the outfit I had for the wedding.
Ah me - my coathanger's too wide by an inch,
And to squash up those pleats makes my dressmaker flinch.
So why did I save it, my fine plastic bag?
I have it! - I'll stuff it with old bits of rag,
Then sit on it, ponder, and wonder just why
I folded and laid it so carefully by.
Too wide or too narrow, too fat or too thin -
My next plastic bag's going straight in the bin!
