RESURRECTION INSURRECTION
[Complete re-design?]
Must I go through Eternity
Shut up in this same body?
I don't think that's a good idea:
It's tatty, worn and shoddy.
I've lived in it for years galore;
I thought that's what I had it for.
If keeping it is my reward
I don't think much of that, dear Lord.
There's bits cut off and bits seized up,
And bits gone stiff and creaky.
Its hearing's grim, its eyes are dim,
Its skin is creased and streaky.
I thought it was a short-term loan,
This battered thing I've called my own.
I don't want it for time infinite:
Dear Lord, I'm tired of being in it.
So what about a body shop
Set up by Peter's Gate, Lord,
Where aged ones like me can swap
For one that doesn't date, Lord?
Eternity I know I face,
With you, or in the other place,
But why can't I be fitted new,
And only then be judged by you?
