ANGIOPLASTY AND STENT

[Invariably, following surgery, a verse is sent to
the Surgeon. A reply is always received, but so far
in prose … ]
With angioplasty and stent,
And meticulous care as you went,
You have set me to rights.
No more puffing at nights,
And a new life is given, not lent.

My days were approaching the static,
As I slowed down from basement to attic,
And becoming so boring -
Not waving but snoring -
How I craved intervention dramatic!

You began with my less well-known bits,
And then wiggled the wire till it fits.
Now my tubes, once occluded,
Of stricture denuded,
Once again fuel my brain - and my wits.

You have shed your skill, in healing rays,
On my life’s round of small, fussy ways,
And my old, beating heart
Once again plays full part
In my busy, enjoyable days.

So in these foolish lines I’m intent
On my thanks for your medical bent.
In a life freed from grief
You’ve ensured my belief
In both angioplasty and stent ...
